Since I was a kid, I've viewed my own life through the lens of a camera, capturing every moment along the way. My parents swore I always had a camera in my hand--sometimes the point-and-shoot disposable and sometimes the Sony Hi8 cassette camcorder. I have always loved documenting the moments of my life and now continue to do the same for others.
I fell in love with photography all over again after finding my first 35mm film camera for $20 at an antique store. I began documenting my everyday life while I was in college at the University of St.Thomas. Learning the art of film took my digital photography to a level it had never been before. By the fall of 2021, I graduated with my B.A. in Entrepreneurship and became a full-time photographer.
Within a year of graduating, I was in another antique store when I stumbled onto a Super 8 film camera. Not knowing if it worked, I took the gamble and learned how to restore and test it. I still remember the first time I ran a roll of film through it. The mechanical whir of the film advancing and the unmistakable click of the shutter swept me off of my feet.
Over time, I began to look after all of our old family photographs and albums. In the process of digitizing and archiving my family’s legacy, I felt the importance of my work as a photographer intensify. I was holding a 100 year old family image in my hands…crying, thinking about how many years my photographs are going to live on for. I carry such a deep love for capturing memories that last beyond a lifetime.
I'm also a spontaneous and adventurous person who's always down for an impromptu road-trip. Back in May of 2020, I bought a retired school bus with a dream to convert it into my very own tiny home on wheels. Now, I have to admit, I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. But hey, that's the fun of it, right? Over three years, I learned how to build a home from scratch. Now I've put over 25,000 miles on my skoolie going all around the United States. Give me a tank of fuel and a dirt road, and I’m a happy camper.
As much as I love photographing people in beautiful destinations, my main focus is on keeping our planet and people safe. Aligning with these values is fundamental to how I live and work, so if they don't resonate with your own priorities, it's possible that we may not be the best match for each other.
