Quiet & Private Sunset Rooftop Proposal in Minneapolis

PowerPoint Party Meets OMG Proposal Story

As a Minneapolis proposal photographer, I often say that the best plans start with a clear vision and a dash of luck. Max already had both. He arranged a “PowerPoint Party” that celebrated Kathleen with photos and short video tributes from friends and family. Kathleen believed they were stopping by for a quick introduction to Max’s new boss before dinner. The excuse explained their dressed-up and let the evening feel natural while the real surprise waited.

The Secret Plans

Open Book’s rooftop itself cannot be rented, but the connecting event room can. Max reserved the space at Open Book for 5 – 7 p.m. on a Friday. We relied on timing (and luck) for privacy. That night the roof was empty, the skyline calm, and the moment was theirs alone.

I placed the flowers, set up the champagne, and slipped around a brick corner on the adjoining rooftop. My early arrival and support as a proposal photographer removed a layer of stress and let Max walk in calm and confident.

When the final slide ended, Max took Kathleen’s hand and guided her to the adjoining rooftop. I stepped out from my hiding spot, camera ready.
